What is the main idea of Pyramus and Thisbe?

The union of Pyramus and Thisbe has been prevented by fate despite their strong love for one another and yearning to be together. In this case, the conflict stems from the parents' hostility toward one another. Another reoccurring theme at work is how not everything is as it seems.

Because he believed the lioness had devoured her, Pyramus stabbed himself. Thisbe committed after returning to find her beloved dead beneath the mulberry tree. Folklore says that after that the mulberry fruit, which had been white before, turned black.

Great Southern Consultants Group's computer system has been down several times over the past few months, as shown below. Number of breakdowns 0 1 2 3 4 Monthly frequency 9 2 4 4 1 Each time the system is down, the firm loses an average of $400 in time and service expenses. They are considering signing a contract for preventive maintenance. With preventive maintenance, the system would be down on average only 0.5 per month. The monthly cost of preventive maintenance would be $200 a month. Which is cheaper, breakdown or preventive maintenance?

Answers

Answer:

- Preventive Maintenance

Explanation:

Given that,

No. of breakdowns          0      1       2       3      4

Frequency                        9      2       4       4      1

So,

No. of breakdowns          Monthly probability

      0                                        0.45

       1                                         0.10

       2                                         0.20

        3                                        0.20

        4                                        0.05

_______________________________________

 Total                                          1.00

________________________________________

As per the above data,

The breakdowns expected every month = (0 * 0.45) + (1 * 0.10) + (2 * 0.20) + (3 * 0.20) + (4 * 0.05)

= 1.30

∵ The cost expected for the breakdowns every month = 1.30 * $400

= $ 520

Now,

Per month cost of preventive maintenance = (0.5 * $400) + $200

= $ 400

Thus, preventive maintenance would be more economical.

I wish I could adopt a dog, the reason I would like to adopt a dog is because I would like to save a life. I want to have the self-satisfaction that I could have at least saved 1 dog from being euthanatized. Every year about one million dogs and cats are euthanatized due to the fact that they don't have owners, they are not wanted. The number of animals being put to death this way can be reduced if only people adopted more and bought less. Also, a dog is man's best friend. Dogs are very loyal animals to humans especially when there is a time of need. Dogs don't runaway or bite if you treat them good and introduce them as part of your family.

Why are Shakespeare's plays considered difficult for modern students to

Answers

The reason hun is because Shakespeare uses an early form of the English language. There are a few differences between today's English and Shakespeare's Early Modern English. He uses words such as thee, thy, lord, thou, art, etc which is complicated for us to understand. Also, many of Shakespeare's plays were written in iambic pentameter which makes his writings much more difficult to interpret. Another thing is that he invented new words in his writings, over 1,000 words he invented.

The excerpt is taken from Patrick Henry's famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech to the Second Virginia Convention in 1775. Which sentence suggests that Patrick Henry believed British rule in the American colonies was tyrannical?

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do, opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely, and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. {The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country.} {For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery;} and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfil the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. {Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offence, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country}, and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. {We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts.} Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? {For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.}

Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. Which best describes the effect of allusion on the meaning in this excerpt?

Answers

Answer:

In simple words, Season's "first green" flowers are connected to golden, earth's most valuable metal, instantly cementing gold as a metaphor of anything that is new, young, and lovely.

The following line, "Her hardest hue to hold," indicates that maintaining the innocent of the initial greens is the most difficult things to accomplish and he adds, "Her first leaf's a blossom / only so an evening." This is the third time he uses an analogy, suggesting that a blade is a bloom (and green is gold).

Read the passage from chapter 1 of Animal Farm.

As soon as the light in the bedroom went out there was a stirring and a fluttering all through the farm buildings. Word had gone round during the day that old Major, the prize Middle White boar, had had a strange dream on the previous night and wished to communicate it to the other animals. It had been agreed that they should all meet in the big barn as soon as Mr. Jones was safely out of the way. Old Major (so he was always called, though the name under which he had been exhibited was Willingdon Beauty) was so highly regarded on the farm that everyone was quite ready to lose an hour's sleep in order to hear what he had to say.

At one end of the big barn, on a sort of raised platform, Major was already ensconced on his bed of straw, under a lantern which hung from a beam.

Which detail from the passage best supports the idea that Old Major is wise?

In the reader, White Dolphin, you have read about Dougie Evans and Kara’s speeches to save the dolphin. Write what you think of the two speeches? Whose appeal was more effective? Why? If you were in the audience, whose speech would have convinced you? Would you have signed the petition?

Answers

Answer: It is important to save dolphins, especially white dolphins which are vanishing away from our earth. There are only 47 white dolphins left in this world. do not forget that we are from 1 planet and should live like 1 family. This world is a house for all creatures, not only humans. have you ever thought that what would happen to us when there would be no animal in this world to escape from us? This means we will be bored by eating only vegetables and fruits. This time is very far away but we can stop it right now until it is very late for it. It’s time to take action, it’s time to wake up.

In both books, the mean characters change for the better. There are lots of very strong characters in this book. As well as Kara who was so determined. I liked Miss Pendula who many people think is mad. She lives alone on the cliffs and cares for sick birds. There is also Felix who achieved amazing things despite his disability and Daisy, Kara's cousin who stood up to the bullies who were making fun of Felix even though she is only five. I admired the Headteacher who was kind and understanding to Kara even though she did something really bad at school.
