What conclusion can you draw about the speaker's character?

Answers

The complete question is:

Read this excerpt from "My Last Duchess" by Robert Browning:

—and if she let

Herself be lessoned so, nor plainly set

Her wits to yours, forsooth, and made excuse,

—E'en then would be some stooping: and I choose

Never to stoop. Oh, sir, she smiled, no doubt,

Whene'er I passed her; but who passed without

Much the same smile? This grew; I gave commands;

Then all smiles stopped together.

What conclusion can you draw about the speaker's character?

He seems passive.

He is extremely arrogant.

He has a stooping gait.

He is very somber.

Answer:

B). He is extremely arrogant.

Explanation:

In the context of one of the most popular poems of Robert Browning titled 'My Last Duchess,' the inference which can be made regarding the speaker's character i.e. The Duke of Ferrara would be that 'he is excessively haughty and arrogant.' The details like 'gave commands,' 'smiles stopped,' etc. substantiates the claim and display that he is a highly dominating, judgmental, and selfish human who controls his wife/duchess. In fact, it was he who killed her as he thought she had been unfaithful towards him. Thus, option B is the correct answer.

I JUST NEED A HOOK

Answers

Answer:

Welp, i don't see the reason you would need a hook for a writing assignment like this. Just search up African Americans who lived in the 1800s that made great achievements or contributions. I am doing it on Frederick Douglass and you really only need to search his importance, accomplishments, what he was remembered for, his influence on others, and really, that's just it. And then add a couple transition words and make it into a intro, body paragraphs, and conclusion essay and that's it!

I don't like essays or writing assignments, like, not at all. But once you start it, it's not that hard!

im answering with the prewritting first then i will write the rough draft and final draft maybe in the comments, but for now here is the prewritting

Explanation:

Frederick Douglas is one of the most known people in history as along with Harriet Tubman.  Harriet tubman was known for being a caregiver and many other things but the thing she was known for the most was helping more than one hundred of African Americans through the Underground Railroad. Harriet's Exact amount of people she helped is 300 without anyone getting hurt or dying. Harriet tubman was born in Dorchester County, Maryland, she grew up in a town called Bucktown.

There she was put to work like the other children at the age of twelve, she would do field work and other things like hauling logs. At the time Harriet was also a spy for the Combahee River, this was very important to Harriet just as much as becoming Conducter of the Underground Railroad. So when harriets master died in 1849 this is when she made her move, and the rest is, well, history.

What led Ramilisonina to suggest a very different purpose for Stonehenge than other archaeologists had thought?

Answers

Answer:

She recalled that in Madagascar there was a custom of creating houses for the dead that matched the houses for the living. In this case, she thought that Stonehenge could be related to the concept of promoting a place for the dead, so that in a way, they remain in contact with the living.

Explanation:

For Ramilisonina, Stonehenge was built to signal the dead to a place destined for them, where they would be welcomed and could keep in touch with the living. This is because Stonehenge is connected to the south circle, which is the place where the living settled and it was a custom of ancient civilizations in madagascar, to create a place of habitation for the dead that matches the place where the living settled.

First, In the beginning, Brian was scared and didn't know how to take care of himself, and he was scared because he didn't have anything else to rely on except for him and a hatchet. Brian was always thinking about how his mother cheated and that took him to mind off of things that were more important like his safety or how he was gonna eat some type of food. When Brian first got into the woods he was scared and cold and all torn up and he was hurt. The text states ¨he was also weak. Just the walk around the back of the ridge and the slight climb over the top had left his legs rubbery. Brian was hurt, he could barely walk and he was still hurt from the plane crash. But When he started to get used to it and at that point knew what to do when seeing a wild animal he was a pro when he encounters wild animals

He learns theirs nothing he can do but he knows he's gonna have to live with it. Once Brian learned that he could do nothing he started worrying about some more important things like how he was going to eat and about his safety

Answers

Answer:

Only for body paragraph 1:

In the beginning, Brian was scared and didn't know how to take care of himself, he didn't have anything else to rely on except for him and a hatchet. Brian would continuously think about his mother's affair which would distract him and took his mind off of things that were more important like his safety or how he was going to find a way to get food. When Brian first entered the woods he was terrified, cold, and in pain. The text also gives us evidence that he was also very weak due to the accident with the plane crash, which affected him harshly, the crash prevented him from walking without pain. For example, just by walking around the back of the ridge and the slight climb over the top would leave Brian's legs rubbery. Eventually Brian began to get accustomed to the status quo and was able to face any challenge that would come his way in the wild.

I got rid of unnecessary words that were included in your first body paragraph and I also added useful words to replace them. So you can just copy and paste it. Other than that; I think you are describing the story very well! :)

Answers

Answer:

"The sun peered at the ravens from behind the cloud." - Personification

"The flock of ravens darkened the sky like thunderclouds." - Simile

"Snow, that great eraser, made the flock of ravens disappear." - Metaphor

Explanation:

Personification is the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.

A simile is a figure of speech that directly compares two things, using the words "like" or "as."

A metaphor also compares two things, however metaphors say something is something else, not using the words "like" or "as."

Answer:

personification, simile, metaphor

Explanation:

"the sun peered at the ravens from behind the clouds" is personification. personification is when something non-human is given human qualities. "peered" is a verb, and it means to look at someone or something, often searchingly or with difficulty. the sun is not a living human being, therefore writing that the sun "peered" is giving a human behavior or quality to a non-human object."the flock of ravens darkened the sky like thunderclouds" is a simile. a simile is a type of figurative language that compares something using the word "like" or "as" (and in this example, the word "like" is used.)"snow, that great eraser, made the flock of ravens disappear" is a metaphor. a metaphor is a comparison, as is a simile, but a metaphor DOES NOT use "like" or "as." instead, it draws a direct comparison. in this sentence, snow is being compared to a "great eraser." notice how there is no "like" or "as" within the comparison, because the snow is directly being compared with an eraser.
