Explanation:
Answer:
"When they came back, they told us that, in exchange for a gold watch, they had discovered that this was the last stop. We would be getting out here. Theere was a labor camp. Families would not be split up. Only the young people would go to work in the factories. The old men and invalids would be kept occupied in the fields. The barometer of confidence soared. Here was a sudden release from the terrors of the previous nights. We gave thanks to God"
The barometer of confidence soared. personifies confidence with the motion of soaring. This allows for the audience to comprehend that their confidence is strengthening and being lifted by comparing it to something relatable to human behavior.
One of Wiesel’s concerns in Night is the way that exposure to inhuman cruelty can deprive even victims of their sense of morality and humanity. By treating the Jews as less than human, the Nazis cause the Jews to act as if they were less than human—cruelty breeds cruelty, Wiesel demonstrates. In the ghetto, Eliezer recounts, the Jews maintained their social cohesion, their sense of common purpose and common morality. Once robbed of their homes and treated like animals, however, they begin to act like animals. The first hint of this dehumanized behavior on the part of the Jewish prisoners comes when some of the deportees, in the constraints of the cattle car, lose their modesty and sense of sexual inhibition. As the section progresses, the Jews become more and more depraved, overcome by their terror. Some of them begin to beat Madame Schächter in order to quiet her, and others vocally support those who are doing the beating. Wiesel suggests that one of the great psychological and moral tragedies of the Holocaust is not just the death of faith in God but also the death of faith in humankind. Not only does God fail to act justly and save the Jews from the cruel Nazis; the Nazis drive the Jews into cruelty, so that the Jews themselves fail to act justly.
The Jewish prisoners’ continual denial of what is happening around them reflects one of the major barriers in writing about the Holocaust. Until the Jews experience the horrors of Auschwitz, they cannot believe that such horrors exist. Even after having heard Moishe’s firsthand report, when the Jews arrive at Auschwitz, they still believe that it is merely a work camp. One can imagine, then, how difficult it is to convince others of the atrocities committed by the Nazis. Wiesel reminds us that the Holocaust is almost too awful a story to convey, yet he insists that it is a story that must be told, because it is crucial that those who hear the story believe, and act on their beliefs, before it is too late.
The figure of Madame Schächter, who in her lunacy foresees the furnaces of Auschwitz, raises an important question about the boundaries between sanity and insanity in the context of the evils of the Holocaust. Madame Schächter, who is supposedly crazy, sees clearly into the future, whereas the other Jews, who are supposedly sane, fail to foresee their fate. Throughout Wiesel’s memoir, sanity and insanity become confused in the face of atrocity. One would think it insane to imagine the extermination of six million Jews, yet it occurred, efficiently and methodically. In the world of Auschwitz, then, normal standards of lunacy and sanity become confused, just as one’s sense of morality is turned upside down.

Write a letter as a senior prefect of ur sch pointing out two praticles among student that should be able to discourage and two habbit that should be discourage and be promoted among the teachers
Answer:
The write is in the explanation:
Explanation:
As prefect Senior Ur, I consider it necessary to eliminate bullying and discrimination among students, since these practices lead to some students entering depression and do not want to study, it is important to have a good school environment among students and promote the "culture of the acceptance".
In the same way, teachers are the role model for students, so it is important that respect and tolerance are promoted among the teachers themselves, respect could generate compassion and interest for the other, tolerance could generate acceptance and promote " a cultural diversity "where you learn to listen and think about the needs of the other.
Question:
As the Senior Prefect of your school, write a letter to the Principal pointing out two practices among students that should be discouraged and two habits that should be promoted among teachers.
Answer:
The Principal
Santiago Model College
Santiago of Chile.
Dear Ma'am,
SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT IN THE SCHOOL
Since assuming office as the Senior Prefect, I have made certain observations that I'd like to bring to your attention.
First, I noticed that students do not respect the "Keep the Environment Clean" Policies that have been put in place by the school's management; Second, the house prefects no longer enforce the afternoon siesta and prep periods. This has led to a very unclean campus and misrepresents the reputation and character of the school's management. Visiting parents would think that the schools' management is not concerned about the health and cleanliness of the students as well as themselves and the visitors we receive occasionally.
Preps and siestas (when observed consistently) have been shown via research to improve the overall academic performance of students. We also checked the records from the school's clinic and the academic records and saw an important correlation that is worth sharing. In the sessions when the school enforced both siesta and prep, not only did the overall academic performance improve, the number of visits to the school's clinic also reduced due to lower clinical cases. This suggests that siesta has a way of keeping the students healthy as their bodies receive proper rest from the day's stress.
If I may, kindly accept this as a suggestion for the school to take seriously the sanctions placed on those who commit infractions against the school's code for a cleaner and healthier space. In addition, it would do the school a lot of good to have the prep and siestas enforced again for the advancement of the school's image and the betterment of the students.
As I conclude, I'd like to commend the new developments observed by our teachers. Students have been talking about how they are in love with the new methods of knowledge transfer. We have noticed that the teachers now employ methods that cater to the learning style of all and sundry. This is a remarkable improvement.
In addition, our teachers have started to show more care and respect to the students. It has made them more approachable and gives the students more courage to ask questions (both academic and non-academic).
On behalf of the students, we'd like to say thank you. Please carry on and don't stop.
Sincere regards,
The Senior Prefect

CHRISTMAS EVE
It was nine-thirty on Christmas Eve. As I crossed the long entrance hall of Monk’s Piece on my way home from the dining room, where we had just enjoyed the first of the happy, festive meals, towards the drawing room and the fire around which my family were now assembled, I paused and then, as I often do in the course of an evening, went to the front door, opened it and stepped outside.
I have always liked to take a breath of the evening, to smell the air, whether it is sweetly scented and balmy with the flowers of midsummer, pungent with the bonfires and leaf-mould of autumn, or crackling cold from frost and snow. I like to look about me at the sky above my head, whether there are moon or stars or utter blackness, and into the darkness ahead of me; I like to listen for the cries of nocturnal creatures and the moaning rise and fall of the wind, or the pattering of rain in the orchard trees, I enjoy the rush of air towards me up the hill from the flat pastures of the river valley.
Tonight, I smelled at once, and with a lightning heart, that there had been a change in the weather. All the previous week, we had had rain, chilling rain and a mist that lay low about the house and over the countryside. From the windows, the view stretched not farther than a yard or two down the garden. It was wretched weather, never seeming to come fully light, and raw, too. There had been no pleasure in walking, the visibility was too poor for any shouting and the dogs were permanently morose and muddy. Inside the house, the lamps were lit throughout the day and the walls of larder outhouse and cellar oozed damp and smelled sour, the fires sputtered and smoked, burning dismally low.
My spirits have for many years now been excessively affected by the ways of the weather, and I confess that, had it not been for the air of cheerfulness and bustle that prevailed in the rest of the house, I should have been quite cast down in gloom and lethargy, unable to enjoy the flavour of life as I should like and irritated by my own susceptibility. But Esme is merely stung by inclement weather into a spirited defiance, and so the preparations four our Christmas holiday had this year been more than usually extensive and vigorous.
I took a step or two out from under the shadow of the house so that I could see around me in the moonlight. Monk’s piece stands at the summit of land that rises gently up for some four hundred feet from where the little River Nee traces its winding way in a north to south direction across this fertile, and sheltered, part of the century. Below us are pastures, interspersed with small clumps of mixed, broadleaf woodland. But at our backs for several square miles it is quite a different area of rough scrub and a heathland, a patch of wildness in the midst of a well-farmed country. We are but two miles from a good-sized village, seven from the principal market town, yet there is an air of remoteness and isolation which makes us feel ourselves to be much further from civilization

How does the author's use of dialogue in "Veronica's Brother" contribute to the meaning?
Answer: The government is on the brink of bankruptcy. It has reduced the country to ruins and scattered it with corpses. The peasants, worn out by suffering and hunger, are incapable of paying taxes. The government gave credits to the landowners out of the people’s money. Now it is at a loss as to what to do with the landowners’ mortgaged estates. Factories and plants are at a standstill. There is unemployment and a general stagnation of trade. The government has used the capital obtained by foreign loans to build railways, warships, and fortresses and to store up arms. Foreign sources have now been exhausted, and state orders have also come to an end. The merchant, the supplier, the contractor, the factory owner, accustomed to enriching themselves at the treasury’s expense, find themselves without new profits and are closing down their offices and plants. One bankruptcy follows another. Banks are failing. All trade exchanges have been reduced to the barest minimum. The government’s struggle against revolution is causing daily unrest. No one is any longer sure what the morrow will bring.
Foreign capital is going back home. “Purely Russian” capital is also seeping away into foreign banks. The rich are selling their property and going abroad in search of safety. The birds of prey are fleeing the country and taking the people’s property with them.
For many years the government has spent all its state revenue on the army and navy. There is a shortage of schools. Roads have been neglected. In spite of this, there is not enough money even to keep the troops supplied with food. The war was lost partly because military supplies were inadequate. Mutinies of the poverty-stricken, hungry troops are flaring up all over the country.
The railways are economically sick through the government’s fault. Many millions of roubles are needed to restore the railway economy.
The government has pilfered the savings banks, and handed out deposits to support private banks and industrial enterprises, often entirely fictitious ones. It is using the small saver’s capital to play the stock exchange, where that capital is exposed to risk daily.
The gold reserves of the state bank are negligible compared with the existing claims of government loans and the demands of trade turnover. It will be reduced to nothing if gold coin is demanded for every transaction.
Taking advantage of the absence of any control of the state finances, the government has long been issuing loans which far exceed the country’s means of payment. With these new loans it is covering the interest on old ones.
Year after year the government issues false accounts of expenditure and revenue, showing both to be less than they are in reality and robbing indiscriminately to show a surplus instead of an annual deficit. Officials are free to rob the treasury which in any case is already exhausted.
Only the Constituent Assembly, after the overthrow of the autocracy, can halt this financial ruin. It will carry out a close investigation of the state finances and will draw up a detailed, clear, accurate, and certified balance sheet of state revenue and expenditure (budget).
Fear of popular control which would reveal to all the world the government’s financial insolvency is forcing it to keep putting off the convening of the people’s representative assembly.
In order to safeguard its rapacious activities the government forces the people to fight unto death. Hundreds of thousands of citizens perish and are ruined in this fight, and industry, trade, and means of communication are destroyed at their very foundations.
There is only one way out: to overthrow the government, to deprive it of its last strength. It is necessary to cut the government off from the last source of its existence: financial revenue. This is necessary not only for the country’s political and economic liberation, but also, more particularly, in order to restore the financial equilibrium of the state.

Sister Carrie
by Theodore Dreiser
She brooded over her lines the livelong day on Friday—reporting first for a final rehearsal and later studying alone in her room.
"Oh, dear! dear!" she said, "I just know I won't succeed."
At the rehearsal Hurstwood put in an appearance. He could not resist the temptation.
"Well," he said, "I thought I had better run out and see how you felt."
"Oh, I don't know," said Carrie. "I'm rather shaky."
"Well, don't you be now," he said cordially, "it isn't worth it. These people will be indulgent with you. Besides it will be nothing if you do miss some of your lines. Just drive on—you'll come out all right. You will—now be easy."
Adapted from Theodore Dreiser's Sister Carrie, 1900.
What can you infer about Hurstwood’s thoughts regarding Carrie’s upcoming performance?
A.)He thinks she shouldn't worry about the performance.
B.)He thinks she shouldn't worry about the performance
C.)He thinks she needs more practice.
D.)He thinks she will be tempted to change her lines.
He thinks she needs more practice
He thinks she will be tempted to change her lines.
Answer:
A.)He thinks she shouldn't worry about the performance.
Explanation:
Hurstwood thinks that Carrie should not worry herself about the performance. Before her performance, Carrie was overcome by fear. Hurstwood sensing Carrie's fear went to her, to encourage her not to be scared as the audience would not be very critical of her performance.
He reminded her that there might be a possibility of missing some of her lines but that she should not be deterred by that.

your opinion on teenage brain
write a ONE PARAGRAPH choose one questions
4. Why is it important for us to understand the difference between teenage brains and fully developed adult brains?
5. If our brains don't finish developing until we're 25, should we not be considered adults until we're 25? Is that when we should be allowed to vote and be drafted?
Answer:
my opinion on teenage brain is that it is still in progress of maturing and developing. As we have been told throughout middle school, this is the time of our lives where our emotions start feeling stronger, some bottle their emotions up as myself. The teenage brain goes through hormonal changes which affect the body emotionally, physically, and mentally.
4.understanding the differences can lead to finding ways to comfort or cooperate with teenagers going through the major changes of their lives
5.I personally dont think that way. From my perspective the brain should be developed over time and those who dont take advantage of the chances they have and that they are given are just being too lazy.So in my honest opinion throughout the age of 18 a person should acknowledge the fact that they are going to have to be a help to society and sooner or later they are going to have to mature so it's up to them to decide if they are going to do something with their life
