Answers

Answer 1

The kayagum is one of the oldest Korean string instruments. however, it has been undergoing many modifications. The original number of strings in the kayagum before the modern revisions was 12 only.

There are two versions of the Kayagum : Beobgum is the version which is used in the court music and the Sanjo kayagum is  adapted better for making faster melodic passages by making strings closer together and  is generally used in folk music of the Korea.

Traditionally the Kayagum had only 12 strings but nowadays after too many modifications modern versions generally include up to 25 strings.
