HELP QUICKLY?? 100 POINTS!!! 10. What images does Thomas create with his words in this stanza (what do you see in your head based on his descriptions)? Make sure to provide textual evidence to support the imagery you see.

Answers

Answer (You didn't tell me what poem and which stanza) Is it this poem? :

"Do not go gentle into that good night" by Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,

Because their words had forked no lightning they

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright

Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,

And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight

Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,

Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

What images does Thomas create with his words in this stanza (what do you see in your head based on his descriptions)?:

Thomas wrote "Do not go gentle into that good night" during a very specific moment in Dylan Thomas's life. His father, David John Thomas, had first introduced him to the wonder of language by reading him Shakespeare before bed at night. Thomas's father was a grammar school teacher, but he had always wanted to be a poet but was never able to realize his dream. Thomas wrote "Do not go gentle into that good night" because his father was dying.

As I got home I looked for my mother everywhere but she was nowhere to be found. I asked my neighbors  but they either couldn't tell me where she was.

I feeling hopeless sat at the corner of the room thinking that my mother has left me alone all by my self, but to my astonishment there was this "knock knock" I ran towards the door open it and a lady looking so much worried entered in the house. I felt very blue looking at my mother and went to her to ask what was the matter. She tried to hide from me, but the man standing besides her told me that she was suffering form cancer. I was shocked to hear this and ran up in my room. All night I was sobbing and feeling so embarrassed that how greediness has killed my inner piece.

It has taken life of my mother who meant too much for me , without her I was nothing, without her I had no place of my own. Then and there I realized how my greediness has cost me.

What is the similarities and differences of intimate

Intimate
Casual

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

Both Casual and intimate speech style are used in an informal setting (unofficial scenario between colleagues, friends or members of a social group). Both types of speech usually do not require a lot of coordination or measured approach, arrangement or careful selection of phrases as could be required in an official or formal set up. However, it is worthy of noting that intimate and casual aren't the same, even though both are speeches are operated on an informal level, the intimate speech style is often used between people who share a very close relationship, this include very close friend or family member, between spouses and so on. Casual speeches may occur between colleagues and those we share a lesser degree of intimacy with. Content and mode of intimate speeches are often more informal and as such very loose than between casual speeches.

Explain Feklisov's rationale for American assistance to the Soviets?

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached or further context, we can say the following.

Feklisov's rationale for American assistance to the Soviets was that the United States government was interested in the scientific minds and technology developed in the Soviet Union. So helping some Soviets coming to America, the government could learn about the secrets behind Soviet weaponry and technologies.

Let's have in mind that these were the times of the Cold War, in which the United States and the Soviet Union competed in the arms race, the space race, and in the spreading/containment of Communism around the world.

Colonel Alexander Feklisov (1914-2007) was a Soviet spy who has a legal residency in the United States.

A Big Year
By Bob Kowalski

Would you go to the ends of the earth to see a bird? What if it were a really special bird: one with beautiful feathers, an entrancing call, or a silly dance? What if seeing that one special bird would allow you to win a contest?

If that contest doesn't get you on television or win you any cash prizes, would you still do it? For those who participate in the "Big Year," the honor of beating the previous record is the only reward they get or even want.

A "Big Year" is a year in which a person attempts to see as many different species of birds as possible within a particular region. For most in North America who participate in a "Big Year," this region is the lower 48 American states, plus Alaska, Canada, and a couple of French islands off the Canadian coast.

You may be thinking that looking at birds is silly, but just think about the numbers of the recent record holders and the commitment it takes to get these numbers. One recent "Big Year" winner managed to see 744 birds in one year, missing the record by just one bird. Big Year birders travel by train, plane, boat, car, bicycle, and of course, by foot. They can cover over 150 thousand miles to get numbers of sightings this high. They can also spend a small fortune.

Just to clarify, the birds these contestants are counting are the number that they see in a particular year. You see, the contest is based on an honor system. No pictures or other evidence is required as proof of a sighting. Most birders take great pride in their reputation and their abilities to see or hear and then identify a bird. Usually, important sightings of the rare birds needed to get counts in the 700s are visited by hundreds of birders. It is pretty hard to cheat your way to a record-breaking year, but in general, few are interested in cheating.

This honesty comes from the fact that most people who want to break such a record know the greatest rewards are not necessarily in winning. Such rewards are in being able to commit a year of your life to doing something you love. Rewards are found in seeing amazing, inspiring creatures like the California Condor or the Magnificent Frigate bird. Rewards also come in spending time with people who, like you, want to spend their time looking to the skies and trees for glimpses of emerald, crimson, or cerulean blue feathered jewels.

You don't have to be able to travel a continent to have a big birding experience though. Have a big month. Or a big weekend. Set a personal record, learn to identify the species that live in your part of the world, or try to learn the calls of just two species of birds. You will soon find looking at birds isn't such a strange way to spend your time.

Extra! Extra! Backyard Birding
Many schools, families, and young birders across the country participate in the "Great Backyard Bird Count." While not as long as a "Big Year," the "Great Backyard Bird Count" happens every year. It depends on birders and families across the country to watch feeders and other areas in their yards and count the number of birds they see. Unlike the "Big Year," the goal is not to see who can count the most birds. Instead, participants in this event work together to help bird experts get a good idea of how birds are doing. Participants are given checklists and enter their sightings on a website. Called a "citizen-science" project, this event is open to anyone, requires no travel, and happens every year over one weekend in February.

It's a great word that conjures visions of slime and unpleasantness. It is perhaps the most annoying part of having a cold or allergies. Mucus, however, plays a very important role in defense of our bodies and our health. In fact, it's high time mucus got a lot more respect.First, there are some amazing facts about mucus that are worthy of respect. Humans produce about a liter of mucus every day, whether they are sick or not. Bony fish and some invertebrates (snails or slugs) also have mucus cells on the outside of their body. This external mucus creates a protective coating that prevents predators' toxins from doing harm. Humans produce mucus to protect our stomachs, our lungs, and several other systems. We tend to not like mucus because it is a considered a symptom or sign that something is wrong. We usually only see it when we are sick, and so we tend to dislike it. According to Michael M. Johns, III, MD, however, "mucus is incredibly important for our bodies." Johns, an assistant professor at Emory University, calls mucus "the oil in the engine" of our bodies. Without mucus, our engines, or bodies, would freeze up and stop working properly.Furthermore, mucus is not just the nasty gunk you see when you are sick. It lines the tissues in your mouth, your nose, throat, and lungs. It also is crucial in protecting your digestive system. Mucus puts a protective coating over the surfaces of these tissues, keeping them moist. Most of the time we don't notice mucus is making our lives better. It does its job quietly, making everything run smoothly, keeping our inner tissues soft and flexible enough to fight off invaders.Occasionally, though our mucus-making membranes go into overdrive. If you eat a hot pepper, your mucus membranes in your mouth and throat start producing extra mucus to protect you. If you come into contact with pollen, you may get a runny nose and start sneezing and coughing. When these things happen, your mucus systems start making more fluids to wash away the irritating particles. Mucus also has some antibodies that increase our ability to fight off bacteria and viruses. It's hard to appreciate what is essentially slime, but we have mucus for some very good reasons. It helps to keep us healthy and lets us know when our bodies are under attack. We would be wise to respect what our bodies do to keep us safe. So the next time you find yourself reaching for a tissue, remember mucus is your friend and ally.Mucus is a great word, not only because it gives name to an important bodily function, but also because it is one of those words that simultaneously makes you feel grossed-out and giggly. Other words for this powerfully important human-health tool include slime and phlegm. Slang words for mucus include boogers and snot. All of these words have the same giggle-power, simply from the combination of consonants and vowels. By the way, mucus is an old word; it's been around since the mid-1600s and has roots back to Latin (mucere, to be moldy or musty) and Greek (myxa, mucus). While you may assume that words like snot and boogers are relatively new slang terms, they are not. Snot dates to 1560 and comes from an Old English word, gesnot, and has the same root as the word snout. The word booger is not quite as old but has been in use since the 1890s.Just the name itself will make you giggle. What purpose does the word giggle serve in this sentence?a. It explains the text will focus on the names of bodily fluids.b. It implies the passage information will not be very important.c. It increases the connection to the discussion about bodily functions.d. It lets the reader know the tone may not be very serious.
