Answer:
1. Anne starts having nightmares because she is feeling trapped and claustrophobic in the attic where the Frank family and the Van Daan family are hiding from the Nazis.
2. Anne has been mean to her mother because she feels frustrated, and confined in the attic, and she is also going through the typical teenage struggles of wanting more independence and autonomy.
3. In this scene, Anne is cold to her mother by ignoring her when she tries to talk to her and by being sarcastic and dismissive when her mother tries to give her advice.
4. Anne wants to be better, but she is struggling with her emotions and her difficult situation, which leads her to act out in negative ways.
5. Edith starts talking German to Otto because she is worried that they may be overheard by the Nazis and wants to speak in a language they will not understand.
6. If I were captured and then freed, one thing I would want to do is to reconnect with my loved ones and make sure they are safe and well.
7. The others react to Anne's nightmares by being sympathetic and understanding, but also by reminding her that they need to be quiet in order to avoid being discovered.
8. The play would not be able to show every day they are hiding because it would be too time-consuming and would not effectively convey the important themes and emotions of the story.
9. The play tries to show the most important events by focusing on the moments that are most crucial to the development of the characters and the plot.
10. Events may be pushed together into a scene even if they did not really happen during that time period in order to create a more cohesive and dramatic narrative.

I put English because there was no ela
Answer:
Cronus, in ancient Greece, is the Titan of time. The youngest of the 12 Titans, he slew his father under the command of his mother, Gaea, the earth mother, thus, making him king of the Titans. He took his sister Rhea as a wife, who bore Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon, all of whom were swallowed by Cronus because his own parents had warned that he would be overthrown by his own child. However, when Zeus was born, in the fear of having him eaten, Rhea hid him in the island, Crete, and tricked Cronus into swallowing a stone instead. Once he grew up to be strong and brave, Zeus knew that he had to confront Cronus and rescue his siblings. Zeus tricked Cronus by giving him an emetic, which causes vomiting. When Cronus vomited, he expelled all of his swallowed children.
After they were freed, Poseidon and Hades banded together with their brother, Zeus, to overthrow Cronus. Thus, the prophecy was fulfilled because his own sons took him down.

Answer: This is very emotional to me. I wasn't even in existence at the time but my mother was in an event 9/11. My mother was in the building that was hit by jets. My mom was very lucky to leave the building just in time before the building collapsed. It is so scary she said that the building was shaking. Note that she was close to the exit. She was telling me it was so dark in there that she and the others in the building had to use matches and candle so they can se where there going R.I.P. to all the people that died in this fatal event.

Letter from Jackie Robinson to President EisenhowerMay 13, 1958The PresidentThe White HouseWashington, D.C.My Dear Mr. President:I was sitting in the audience at the Summit Meeting of Negro Leaders yesterday when you said we must have patience. On hearing you say this, I felt like standing up and saying, “Oh no! Not again.”I respectfully remind you sir, that we have been the most patient of all people. When you said we must have self-respect, I wondered how we could have self-respect and remain patient considering the treatment accorded us through the years.17 million Negroes cannot do as you suggest and wait for the hearts of men to change. We want to enjoy now the rights that we feel we are entitled to as Americans. This we cannot do unless we pursue aggressively goals which all other Americans achieved over 150 years ago.As the chief executive of our nation, I respectfully suggest that you unwittingly crush the spirit of freedom in Negroes by constantly urging forbearance and give hope to those pro-segregation leaders like Governor Faubus who would take from us even those freedoms we now enjoy. Your own experience with Governor Faubus is proof enough that forbearance and not eventual integration is the goal the pro-segregation leaders seek.In my view, an unequivocal statement backed up by action such as you demonstrated you could take last fall in dealing with Governor Faubus if it became necessary, would let it be known that America is determined to provide –in the near future –for Negroes –the freedoms we are entitled to under the constitution. Respectfully yours,Jackie Robinson

Explanation:
Just the name itself will make you giggle. It's a great word that conjures visions of slime and unpleasantness. It is perhaps the most annoying part of having a cold or allergies. Mucus, however, plays a very important role in defense of our bodies and our health. In fact, it's high time mucus got a lot more respect.
First, there are some amazing facts about mucus that are worthy of respect. Humans produce about a liter of mucus every day, whether they are sick or not. Bony fish and some invertebrates (snails or slugs) also have mucus cells on the outside of their body. This external mucus creates a protective coating that prevents predators' toxins from doing harm. Humans produce mucus to protect our stomachs, our lungs, and several other systems.
We tend to not like mucus because it is a considered a symptom or sign that something is wrong. We usually only see it when we are sick, and so we tend to dislike it. According to Michael M. Johns, III, MD, however, "mucus is incredibly important for our bodies." Johns, an assistant professor at Emory University, calls mucus "the oil in the engine" of our bodies. Without mucus, our engines, or bodies, would freeze up and stop working properly.
Furthermore, mucus is not just the nasty gunk you see when you are sick. It lines the tissues in your mouth, your nose, throat, and lungs. It also is crucial in protecting your digestive system. Mucus puts a protective coating over the surfaces of these tissues, keeping them moist. Most of the time we don't notice mucus is making our lives better. It does its job quietly, making everything run smoothly, keeping our inner tissues soft and flexible enough to fight off invaders.
Occasionally, though our mucus-making membranes go into overdrive. If you eat a hot pepper, your mucus membranes in your mouth and throat start producing extra mucus to protect you. If you come into contact with pollen, you may get a runny nose and start sneezing and coughing. When these things happen, your mucus systems start making more fluids to wash away the irritating particles. Mucus also has some antibodies that increase our ability to fight off bacteria and viruses.
It's hard to appreciate what is essentially slime, but we have mucus for some very good reasons. It helps to keep us healthy and lets us know when our bodies are under attack. We would be wise to respect what our bodies do to keep us safe. So the next time you find yourself reaching for a tissue, remember mucus is your friend and ally.
Mucus is a great word, not only because it gives name to an important bodily function, but also because it is one of those words that simultaneously makes you feel grossed-out and giggly. Other words for this powerfully important human-health tool include slime and phlegm. Slang words for mucus include boogers and snot. All of these words have the same giggle-power, simply from the combination of consonants and vowels. By the way, mucus is an old word; it's been around since the mid-1600s and has roots back to Latin (mucere, to be moldy or musty) and Greek (myxa, mucus). While you may assume that words like snot and boogers are relatively new slang terms, they are not. Snot dates to 1560 and comes from an Old English word, gesnot, and has the same root as the word snout. The word booger is not quite as old but has been in use since the 1890s.
Just the name itself will make you giggle.
What purpose does the word giggle serve in this sentence?
a. It explains the text will focus on the names of bodily fluids.
b. It implies the passage information will not be very important.
c. It increases the connection to the discussion about bodily functions.
d. It lets the reader know the tone may not be very serious.

How do writers express tone in written works?
i just need an example or something. anything helps :)
Answer:
it may be how the writer presents a sort of theme. for example using dark words (cloudy, rainy, dark, full moon, abandoned, broken castle ect) or like happy words ( sunshine, blue sky, rainbow, warm, joy). they could say something like "the dark clouds hovered over us, covering the full moon above" which makes a sense/tone of horror.i could be wrong though
