Answer 1
Conflict: A serious disagreement or argument
Rising action: a series of relevant incidents that create suspense
Hope this helps :)
Answer 2
A conflict is a a problem, disagreement, or argument that is present in a story. A conflict can also be something that gets in between the main character and their goal. The conflict or when a conflict is solved is usually in the climax of the plot of the story. There can be internal and external conflicts, where the character is having a conflict between themselves or the outside world. There can be many conflicts in the story, as not the whole story resolves around just one.

(Sorry that it doesn’t go together, I’m rushing)

Rising action is events that lead up to the main event, or climax of the story. In a story, the rising action can have many events happening, good or bad. All the things that happen in the rising action, end up playing an important part of the climax. The rising action happens right after the characters are introduced and you find where the setting is. The rising action is also where suspense is starting to show, and your getting ready for the climax.

(Again sorry- I hope this helps)

In the story Little Women, one family brings breakfast to another on Christmas morning. Read this passage and then answer the question that follows:

A poor, bare, miserable room it was, with broken windows, no fire, ragged bedclothes, a sick mother, wailing baby, and a group of pale, hungry children cuddled under one old quilt, trying to keep warm.

How the big eyes stared and the blue lips smiled as the girls went in.

"Ach, mein Gott! It is good angels come to us!" said the poor woman, crying for joy.

What implicit meaning can you find about the sick woman and her children from this text?

The mother did not know how to start a fire.
The mother's illness made her children hate her.
The mother was unable to provide for their needs.
The mother and children lived in an abandoned building.

Answers

It would be : The mother was unable to provide for their needs. Implicit meaning implied.
It would not be the others because what if she didn’t have resources to start a fire? It said room not building, and by having the children smiling, they did not resent her.
The women was unable to provide for their need

Use page numbers and quotations to write a three- to five-sentence paragraph about one theme from your novel or short story. Remember to include the title and author or the novel or short story. My story is The Outsiders By S.E. Hinton.

Answers

One of the themes in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is good times come to an end. According to the text, "Nothing gold can stay." (pg. 77.) This relates to the book because just last night, Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally were at the movies with Cherry. Now, they are wanted for murder, and hiding in fear.

In the cold northlands of the Vikings, a child named Sigurd is born. Even before he has come into the world, his father, the king, dies in battle against Odin, one of the gods of the Vikings. Sigurd then becomes the stepson of the new king. When Sigurd is young, the king sends him to live with one of his stepfather’s barons, Regin. Regin is a dwarf, a race of magical creatures who live underground and always want more gold than they can get.
One day in the stables, Regin says, "Sigurd, you are the son of the first king; you are strong. Take your inheritance by force, and you will be king."
Sigurd says, "But the king is kind to me. He gives me whatever I ask."
Regin laughs at Sigurd. He asks, "If this is true, then where is your horse? You cannot be a knight without a horse."
Sigurd says, "It will be easy to get a horse. I will show you." So he sets out to find one.
While selecting a horse to buy, Sigurd is approached by an old man.
"You are Sigurd, son of the king; you must choose this great white stallion. He will never fail you."
Sigurd listens to the old man and picks the horse named Grani, a magical steed. After Sigurd leaves with Grani, the old man reveals himself to be none other than Odin. He has disguised himself so that he could help Sigurd without the young warrior's knowledge.
When Sigurd returns with a magical horse, Regin is furious. Regin devises a plan to rid himself of Sigurd. He tells Sigurd, "This proves nothing. Anyone can buy a horse. Kill the dragon Fafnir and all will know of your valor. And you will have riches beyond any other king."
In order to slay Fafnir, Sigurd asks Regin to make him a wondrous sword. When Regin hands him the sword, Sigurd tests it by striking the anvil on which it was made. The sword breaks, so Sigurd asks for another. The second sword also breaks. Sigurd then asks Regin to make him a sword from the broken pieces of the first two. When Sigurd tests the third sword, it slices through the anvil cleanly.
With his sword, his magical steed, and his strength and wisdom, Sigurd gathers his courage and enters battle against Fafnir. Odin, disguised as the old man, appears before Sigurd and says, "You cannot face him head on; you will be slain. Dig a hole. If you do this, you will defeat him easily."
Once again, Sigurd listens to the old man. When the hole is dug, Sigurd hides in it and yells out a challenge to Fafnir. The dragon comes charging. The ground trembles under the fearsome beast, but Sigurd does not run. When the dragon is over the hole, Sigurd strikes and slays Fafnir with one blow. After his victory, some of the dragon’s power spills into Sigurd. The hero becomes even stronger and goes on to accomplish even greater deeds so that his legend still lives on many years later.

Which sentence in the passage uses the definition to help explain the meaning of the word Celts?
Halloween

Halloween is one of the oldest celebrations in the world. In fact, it dates back to before Christianity began. Today, Halloween mainly is celebrated by wearing scary costumes and asking for treats. However, its primary purpose was to remember the dead. It was said to be a day when the spirits would cross over to the next world. Also, the day was originally used to mark the beginning of winter. We can see here that one idea that I believe should become a law is mandatory recycling in all public spaces, including parks, beaches, and public transportation.

What is a law?

A law is a set of rules and regulations that are created by a governing authority, such as a country's legislature or judiciary, to regulate behavior and ensure order and justice within a society.

Here are three reasons why I believe this idea should be a law:

Firstly, mandatory recycling in public spaces can significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, which in turn can help protect the environment.

Secondly, mandatory recycling can help to educate and raise awareness about the importance of recycling and environmental conservation. When people are required to separate their waste, they become more conscious of their own consumption habits and how they contribute to environmental issues.

Finally, mandatory recycling in public spaces can also have economic benefits.

On the third night, the man yearned for fish. So, he went outside, cast his line out and waited. This time, something different happened. A fish came up to him and asked,"Why do you throw that line in every day?". The man was tricky and responded,"If a fish bites on that line, He will live forever." The fish swam over to the hook and bit down on it. The man quickly reeled that fish in.

"You tricked me!" cried the fish. "You should have known better and not trusted a stranger." The fish then took its last breath. The man took it inside and cooked up the delicous fish for dinner.

Answer:

The answer should be: None give any important information about the sentence's topic.

Explanation:

Interrupters, parenthetical clauses, and nonrestrictive clauses add information that is not normally needed.

interrupters, parenthetical clauses, and nonrestrictive clauses all have in common as none give any important information about the sentence's topic. Thus, option B is correct.

What are nonrestrictive clauses?

A nonrestrictive clause enriches a sentence with novel data. It typically relates to a particular person, object, or event and is a special noun or common noun. Commas are used to indicate whether that data is extra.

A restricted clause includes details that are crucial to the sentence's significance. It is possible to eliminate a nonrestrictive sentence while affecting its purpose. Nonrestrictive clauses frequently separate themselves from the separate clause by commas, whereas restrictive clauses don't need to be punctuated at all.

Therefore, option B is correct.
